    Tell us a SNOW
    story… a bunch, none, some… stuck – sled – ski – snowfolks – my fav
Cosby saving a snowball for Weird Harold… tell us your SNOW story!

The Halloween blizzard of 1991, is unforgettable.
I was living in my dad’s lake apartment, and was
6 months pregnant.  I was still selling pulltabs at
a VFW I worked in, at the time.  When people saw me pull up at the bar-they would help me over the snow!
My dad had a little bit of candy to pass out, although
we thought there wouldn’t be any takers.
The patio door was covered in frost and snow.
Suddenly, we heard a knock at the door,
sure enough, there was a father and daughter
trick-or-treating.  We were amazed that they braved the
blizzard for some candy, of all things! I could barely open the door to pass along the candy, as the wind was
    quite strong.

I don’t remember the snow total, but I think it was around 3 feet, with drifts around.  It always looks so pretty to see,
    but not be, in it.

There have been other blizzards, it seems global warming may have changed our weather here?!
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!!

    *******

    I love you!!

  • A Halloween blizzard? Weird.

  • It’s been so long since we had snow :(

IK remember being in the army, near the east german border, we had to clear away a feet of snow, almost every day for a forthnight, we walked around between huge walls.

  • Wow; that child must have really had a sweet tooth!

  • It should be called “Global Freezing” if you ask me….

  • OOOO, I want to know what costumes they had on in that weather! Also, what’s a pulltab?

Thanks for commenting on my site! I also have one that’s just a blog, not fiction. It’s at xxx.xanga.com/coffeeiv.

  • RYC:  Glad you enjoyed the story.  Scott_in_Mesa is currently courting me.  :giggle:  He seems nice and I’m letting myself be open to the possibilities.

That bottom photo is awesome. Not sure I’d want to be working that lighthouse with waves that big and that close.  Scary!  But so beautiful.

We have storm advisories out right now.  The way the temperature is dropping, I believe we may actually see something.  Lots of wind howling out there.

    HUGS!!!

  • People are crazy when it come to the weather sometimes!

  • ^Yes, I’m also in the dark about the meaning of “pulltabs”.

  • Dang, he should have been father of the year.  My kids would have been trick or treating from bedroom to bedroom

  • :heartbeat:i love you too!:heartbeat:

i’m glad you liked my poems, which ones were they? my stuf is a big jumble last night as i was reorganizing …

    how are you today?

  • Halloween Blizzard.

I remember a year for Halloween I wanted to be a “Cave man”

But it was too cold. . .

so I made some changes–only ended up needing to be minute changes–and went as a Eskimo instead.

(well like as the caveman had a “fur coat” not real fur mind you, like slung around, and put that on to wear instead, then just grabbed some big gray boots)

It does seem pretty remarkable to brave a blizzard for some candy. . .

but I could understand kids in other countries doing that!

I went to Guatamala a few summers ago, handed out some candy. . .the kids go HYSTERICAL for it. They’d do ANYTHING to get their hands on CANDY!
