Sir, don’t tell me of deception; a lie, Sir, is a lie,
whether it be a lie to the eye or a lie to the ear.
    ~Samuel Johnson

The dream you are living is your creation. It is your
perception of reality that you can change at any time. You have the power to
create hell, and you have the power to create heaven. Why not dream a different
dream? Why not use your mind, your imagination, and your emotions to dream
    heaven?

    – Don Miguel Ruiz

    When it comes to
living, you have two options: you can use it to empower yourself, or you can use
it to disempower yourself. There are no other choices. Every day you empower or
disempower yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Every day you
either empower or disempower yourself in your relationship to yourself, your
relationships with others, professionally, financially … you name it, the
    choice is always the same.

    One simple rule
governs the entire empowerment process: Where you start is where you end up.
What you focus on is what you get. Its that simple.

    We all get caught
in the race of continually destroying our present peace of mind for the sake of
some goal in the future. What were really doing, however, is teaching ourselves
habits of discontent, fear, and anxiety that only breed more of the same.

    When we think
negative thoughts, we act them out and create reality in our inner image. Put
psychologically, we act subconsciously in ways that end up fulfilling our fears.
Put energetically, we draw to ourselves what we focus on. If we focus on our
lacks, thats just what we get: more lack. Similarly, if we focus on ill health,
we get more of it. But if we focus on feeling that we have and are what we want,
we invite what we want to come into our reality. We invite outer reality to
    match inner reality.

    Were on our way,
all of us, together, into effortless freedom, power and abundance. Lets go!

    ~ Ingrid Bacci

You attract not what you want but what you are.

    He Poos Clouds
    Final
    Fantasy

    2006

It’s you’re tempted to ignore the album He Poos Clouds
because of the silly title, give the record a chance. The brainchild of Owen
Pallett, who is primarily a violinist and string arranger, Final Fantasy’s
second record is a challenging, baroque pop record, at once playful and
ambitious. Each song features multiple instruments that are usually used in
supporting roles in contemporary pop -a violin here, a harpsichord there. Always
trying to keep up with the seemingly disparate vocals, at times, it seems as if
this music was never intended to be put to words, its challenging and ambitious
intentions having been co-opted by some wandering singer (Pallett himself) who
seems to have snuck up to the orchestra and tossed off some lyrics he’d been
carrying around in his head for who knows how long.

    “Possible
possibilities for a date include / A shooting range,” Pallett croons on the
opening track “The Arctic Circle” before revealing that “she’s got a heart that
will never melt.” Meanwhile, the strings jolt back and forth and backing vocals
struggle for air time. The song is halfway between paranoid and epic, Jean-Paul
Sartre meets Andrew Lloyd Weber, and the strings rise and rise into the final,
dark conclusion of it all: “Your rock and roll, has gone away.” For the next
nine tracks, it is indeed clear that rock and roll has left the building.
Disgruntled classical prodigies and fractured images of pop’s vocal front men
have taken its place, creating an effect that is as fun house-ready as it is
    silver screen-tilted.

Yet closer listens to what is actually going on
here may be a far darker experience. “I’m Afraid of Japan” finds Pallett telling
tales of “Jenna [who] dreams of being physically able / To behead herself at the
dining room table.” And the upbeat piano intro of “This Lamb Sells Condos”
belies the dark images contained within: dying communities and doomed marriages.
Despite this, the record still retains a light tone in the way the best pop
manages to sneak darkness into each dose of sugar. He Poos Clouds is
unique in its quirky combination of chamber-influenced arrangements and
eccentric lyrics, and its haunting melodies are difficult to get out of your
    head.

  • Good words.  I am fighting myself right now.  It’s a beautiful fall day, a bit crisp, but sunny and I feel like I should be somewhere else. So, I’m trying to create what, in my mind would happens elsewhere, in my current space.  Somedays seems to be a bigger challenge than on other days.   ~Colleen

  • I am not too keen on the time changes.  But then, who listens to me?  I have been thinking about putting on my Van Morrison cd’s this weekend, but I have “spend the night company” tonight–a 5 year old grandchild, so it won’t happen tonight.

  • Oh, silly me (or rather , rude me)… I forgot to thank you. You put me onto Ingrid Bacci and I bought her book The Art Effortless Living. It’s good. I’ll re-read it in the future.

  • Does it? In my world it just started last night!! ;)

  • :sunny: Oops I was referring to Daylight Savings :)

  • I’d better say hi to VV, who’s one of my faves.  G’morning to you.

  • Huh?  Your link didn’t work.

  • RYC:  You might think he was married, and maybe I WAS a naive 20 y/o,  but I don’t think so.. He was still grieving for his wife…He had the announcement of his wife’s funeral and many pics of her when she was getting chemo..she had lost her hair, etc. And, pics of his family the day of the funeral… Pretty sad, actually. I think he was still grieving… Don’t ask me why he had all of those things with him on his getaway.. I think he was sorting through them and deciding what to do with them all???…

Thanks for visiting my site. That was many, many years ago for now I have a daughter who is in her final year at our university…. But, it was a great memory, nonetheless…

    Christy

  • Laurie,  I like the colored swirls in your background, however they make it almost impossible to read the comments which have been left.  And especially on your site, there is a joy in reading others’ comments to you.  So I feel deprived.

You asked about the contest.  It’s some kind of Xanga contest but I don’t know who exactly.  I found out about it from Friday’s post from Anth0nyc (the person with the great pictures so many times).  I did read some of the nominations and realized it was a different group than I am used to as I didn’t recognize the names of the others.

I like your blurbs about choosing to empower or dis-empower yourself.  The choice is ours.  And, if we were to discuss personal ethics, we might even be bold enough to say that the responsibility is also ours.  But most people have not thought our their personal ethics as they just leave ethics to the churches.  And most churches to not include our own fulfillment or actualization as part of the ethical structure.  Which is a shame.  Our values should include that we will do what it takes to fulfill our potential and to develop ourselves in as many ways as possible.  And that includes empowering ourselves.

  • I guess I didn’t need the extra hour of sleep.  I just got up a hour earlier..  Hope you are enjoying your Sunday!:fun:

  • i attract what i am?  i think i need to kill myself now

  • Totally forgot daylight savings time was ending…

  • Oh thank goodness I had time to visit you cause I forgot all about the time change LOL Thanks ever so much for the reminder. Take good care now xoxo Tynee

  • :wave:Thanks for the birthday props, hope your day was great:sunny:
