A friend has passed on, his name was Aion (Eaglechild).
Please pray for his family and all of the friends that came in contact with him.  He was gifted in so many ways; he had a Light and the gift of poetry.  He will be sorely missed.  He was only 25.

    Spirit of Love
    C.O.B.

    1970

Guitarist-banjoist Clive Palmer cofounded the Incredible String
Band, Britain’s preeminent psychedelic folk outfit, in the mid-1960s. But after
the group’s first album he left to travel Afghanistan and India. Reduced to the
duo of Mike Heron and Robin Williamson, the Incredible String Band went on to
produce a dazzling series of eccentric and highly celebrated folk records, but
Palmer also lived up to the band’s early promise. By the ’70s he had founded
Clive’s Original Band (truncated to C.O.B.), a group exploring the intersections
between Celtic folk, romantic mythology, and Eastern musical scales. The concept
wasn’t far from what the Incredible String Band had practiced in his absence,
but C.O.B. benefited from Palmer’s deep resonant vocals and simple, iconic
tunesmithing. What’s more, he surrounded himself with a formidable set of
musicians. Spirit of Love, the group’s debut, utilizes a deft range of
instruments-from washboard to recorder to dulcitone-to build an ! ululating
    river of folk music.

The opening number, “Spirit of Love,” is perhaps
the most striking of the set, a cascade of layered acoustic guitar, detuned
piano, and distant echoing voices. The steady one-two rhythm, played on woozy
guitar, combines with Palmer’s reverberating voice to find a surface like water
rolling in the dark. The lyrics too prove amorphous and magical: “Then through a
glass darkly see / Then face to face you will be / Spirit of love move in me /
Spirit of love set you free.” Palmer’s rich vocals reach their apogee on the a
cappella song “Wade in the Water,” where he is joined by a loose, buzzing
harmony chorus and the impromptu rhythms of hand claps and foot stomps. The
tune, more incantation than song, feels exuberant and makeshift, like a band of
    friends singing beneath the stars.

Much of the album adopts a quavering,
low-volume, dream-logic tone, the songs’ Celtic melodies blending with splendid
Indian and Arabic trills. “Sweet Slavery” may be the best of these wandering
tunes. Through the entire track, the hypnotic hum of an Indian organ weaves
between the rough strums of acoustic guitar. Background voices rise and fall,
mirrored by a soft cello, and the lyrics cycle through an impressionistic,
hallucinatory romance: “Her memories bring pictures of the sea / She swims the
gleaming shallows, rescues me.” But with Palmer asserting a mournful authority,
C.O.B.’s visions never fall into preciousness. Instead, they generate a powerful
space of nature and magic fed on the ancient waterways of Great Britain.

  • i am sorry to hear about your friend hun *hugs* u ok?
I been a week at my bf was ace:)

  • i always have THIS on tap since the lost of someone so young needs this kind of soothing thoughts:

Peace, peace! he is not dead, he doth not sleep-
He hath awakened from the dream of life-
‘Tis we, who, lost in the stormy visions keep
    With phantoms an unprofitable strife,
And in mad trance strike with our spirit’s knife
    Invulnerable nothings.-We decay
Like corpses in a charnel; fear and grief
Convulse us and consume us day by day,
And cold hopes swarm like worms within our living clay.
    The One remains, the many change and pass;
    Heaven’s light forever shines, Earth’s shadows fly;
Life, like a dome of many coloured glass,
Stains the white radiance of Eternity,
Until Death tramples it to fragments.-Die,
If thou wouldst be with that which thou dost seek!
Follow where all is fled!-Rome’s azure sky,
Flowers, ruins, statues, music, words are weak
The glory they transfuse with fitting words to speak.

  • I’m sorry for the loss of a friend of yours.

I love the cartoon.  I have thought myself the same thing.  One realizes with age that things just don’t matter.  It’s not so much patience as perspective.

  • I am very sad about eaglechild even if he was nopt on my list.

  • I’m sorry for your loss.

  • *heavy sigh*  How did you find out about Aiion?  I’m in a bit of shock…

I’ll just go into the quiet and call him to me.  I felt powerfully connected to him, you know…

    I love you…GFW
