  • The brilliant sky
    the stream below
    many wonders
    I’ve yet to know

    Lots of dreams
    I have, in my bed
    chance encounters
    in my head

    Bounty overflow
    we’re surrounded
    on sacred ground
    our natives founded

    Such delight we
    have to wallow
    our hearts are full
    we’ve much to follow

    Our politic state
    we are happy
    lets’ make some changes
    and make it snappy

    All culled from rote
    my mind does linger
    The votes are counted
    celebration malingers.

We’ll take a moment to say something that is
not an exaggeration: democracy has just been saved.

    We were within one
election of our Constitution being replaced with a “unitary executive” authority
that saw Congress as a needless, obstacle to domination (dictatorship) by the
    self-appointed “Masters of the Universe.”

    Words cannot express the
    relief.

As we said in a previous communication, the Democratic
leadership has its flaws, but they are sane. And in the denial-of-reality world
of Bushevism, Congress’s return to sanity is a saving grace for our
Constitution, freedom and rule of law.

    This election, we weren’t
    disappointed.

You, the American voter, returned the House and the Senate
to people, however imperfect, who value you our Constitution and who abide by
    one-person, one-vote.

Congratulations! There are struggles ahead to be
sure. Our GIs continue to die in Iraq, as do the Iraqis.

    But the
    Republic has been saved.

    That’s no small feat.

Associated Press: Democrats Win Senate! Democracy Wins
a Reprieve! This Will Mean Bush Won’t Get a Blank Check on Federal Hack Judges
and the Next Key Supreme Court Nomination. It May Also Just Mean that the
Constitution has Been Saved from Destruction. Dems Control Both Houses of
    Congress Come January. Believe it!

    Iraqis cheer Rumsfeld departure

The One-Party Near Dictatorial Reign of the Republicans
Ends as Dems Sweep to Power in Both Houses of Congress. “The days of the
do-nothing Congress are over,” declared Democratic Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, in
line to become majority leader. “In Iraq and here at home, Americans have made
clear they are tired of the failures of the last six years.”

Six Months Ago, You Couldn’t the Democratic Leadership
Was Running Away from Talking About the Iraq War. In the End, They Read the
Polls and Embraced Running Against It, And They Took Back Back the House and the
Senate as a Result. The Internet and the American People Won the Battle Over
Iraq in the Public Mind, and the Democrats Hopped on the Train to Victory.

    HUMOR

“Managing to have a sense of
humor makes it a lot easier to manage people.” — Steve Wilson

    “Good humor is the health
of the soul, sadness its poison.” – Lord
    Chesterfield

“There are very few good judges of humor, and they
    don’t agree.” — Josh
    Billings

“Humor is the sunshine of the mind.” — Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton

I’ve no qualms saying I am happy with the election results!
The Dems are in power, and some things are right in our world.
Turnabout will take a long time, and I hope in ’08 our prayers will be answered.
Obviously the Prez has taken account of this, and it’s a poke in his eye to
wake up and smell the coffee.  I do not like the man, and he has done a lot to
create havoc in not only our country but abroad.  We are NOT the ‘all-seeing
all-knowing smartest  country’.  We are not the power of the world.  We
are infallible and immortal, begrudging and arrested.  Homeless and poor.
Let us celebrate democracy in its truest form!  (LB)

    The Universe’s Plan
    For You

The path that speeds us toward our dreams can be a challenging
and complex one, so it’s easy to get bogged down in confusion and insecurities.
We often hesitate at the start of that path, questioning our purpose or our
capabilities. Yet we should be moving forward joyously, eager to discover what
destiny has in store for us. The universe has plans for us that eclipse anything
we have dreamed of thus far. Though we must work diligently to fulfill our
potential and to accomplish our individual missions, the universe is aware of
both the quests we chose before birth and the goals we have formulated in
adulthood. If we accept that it us watching over us and believe that it will
facilitate our eventual success, the universe will provide us with the
assistance and opportunities that enable us to make significant progress on our
    journeys of ambition.

Nothing happens without a purpose. Whether we
attract success or repel it depends on our willingness to stay open to a wide
range of possibilities and to embrace concepts like synchronicity. The universe
is always ready to care for our needs, but we must not write off its loving
attention as mere circumstance or chance. Likewise, we must endeavor to ensure
that our egos do not become a barrier that prevents us from recognizing that
even perceived mistakes and strife can be profound lessons that smooth the
progress of personal evolution. When we understand that we only need to
enthusiastically try our best to realize our objectives, the universe will take
care of the details, propelling us forward in its unstoppable current. We may
not always immediately understand the significance of certain experiences, but
our trust will help us choose wisely at each crossroads.

    The universe
wants to see you accomplish your goals. No matter how long you’ve dallied or
hesitated, it will always be there to put its plan for you in motion at the
first sign of your faith. You can make the most of this aid by acquiescing to it
rather than fighting it-nurture your dreams but do not attempt to micromanage
every detail along the way. The universe will provide you with guidance and, if
you heed that guidance, you will find your formerly stressful quest for success
will become a journey of great joy.

    A Quiet Storm
    Smokey
    Robinson

    1975

Smokey Robinson and the Miracles had been the big hit-maker for
Motown through the 1960s. Robinson’s irresistible falsetto voice was the
embodiment of love and longing itself, comforting and curing your pain and
giving the impression that he felt it deeper than you ever could. Robinson was
also a songwriter who penned hits for other luminaries on Motown’s roster and
even took a turn as vice president of the label-clearly a man unafraid of living
in the moment. As the 1970s brought about changes in style, moving from soulful
harmonies to funky explorations, it was only natural that he would go solo, and
on A Quiet Storm he found a more mature style. The album’s focus on love
and love only managed to define a whole genre of mellow soul, Quiet Storm, which
became the name for the smooth music many R&B radio stations play late at
    night.

The title track grabs you right away. It’s a lovely mixture of
progressive jazz flourishes, ample hooks, and slightly funky, syncopated drums
that back up and around Smokey’s lyrical ascents, a groovy late-inning flute,
and wind effects. It sets the pattern for what’s to follow, an in-no-hurry
seducer of a record from the Poet Laureate of Love. “Baby That’s Backatcha” was
another big hit, a more “up” track wherein Smokey hits some great high notes
alongside the flute, some funky guitar, and a crisp, tambourine-accented soul
    beat.

Throughout the album a soft wind blows, connecting the tracks and
making this record the perfect accompaniment to a candlelit late-night romance.
No need to jump up and suddenly change the track. The romantic gusher here is
“Wedding Song,” which Smokey wrote for the nuptials of Hazel, the daughter of
Motown prez Berry Gordy, and Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson 5. Its honorable
tone shows that A Quiet Storm is no “get in your pants” sort of seduction
album, the way Prince might deliver, but a bona fide, from the heart, mellow
groove epic without a bit of filler from beginning to end. Robinson means every
elegantly rhymed word he sings, and you feel your heart opening like an
endlessly unfolding flower every time the album plays.

  • I can not speach of American politic being French but it is sure France was disagreeing Mr Bush about Iraq . France gave advices of wisdom at this time such a loyal and more ancient allie of USA .but was swept by the Mr Rundsfeld and Bush . I hope the Democrats be better in the social field . But I think nowaday the master of the world becomes the King money . Factories are destroyed ( and workers fired ) in order to be rebuilt elsewhere with more profit . But I don’ t want to be pessimistic and I think Democrats will be more attentive to the social situation in USA .
    Love    Michel

  • I like the poetry, and I like the simple idea, Democrats aren’t perfect but they are also not (a) insane, (b) incredibly cruel to the weak and poor, and (c) in favor of a theocracy. So, this is huge win.

  • I used to have this burning anger toward Richard Dawkins…     but now I’m starting to believe that he is only creating his OWN life and a godless one…    and I feel a little empathy and maybe even a little pity for the guy.

A life without miracles and magic and wonder and spirit…     oh, how deeply sad!  :whocares:

    :heartbeat:

  • I definitely like today’s poem. :goodjob:

  • I also read that this election had the largest number of young voters, although it could have been talking about just one city.  Even so, I thought that was very positive.

I hope you have a happy day!  Colleen

  • I liked the poem a lot, too. The only thing better for this election results would have been if we could have replaced pretty-boy Perry as our governor. The good news: our state government does not actually allow much power to the office of governor. The Bad news: big business & oil are still in charge here, so it is most likely that the public assistance programs & public school systems here will be faced with monumental challenges & very few resources with which to meet them…….

  • ::love: yes yes yay for the Democrats!!!!

I had posted a pic of my moms bird but hadnt gotten around to adding any info yet, was going to do that later today when i chat with my hubby. I was kinda floored by your comment and wonder how you know his name?? I think its cool that you do maybe you have a gift for insight but i was wondering maybe you know my mom?? Just wondering……….

I like your poem and that tongue out pic is very appropriate :p

    Blessings,

  • It was ‘a day that will live in infamy’ in the hearts and minds of many.

  • RYC:  Lynn Wardlow, district 38B.  He’s the one that I was helping because Nell asked me to.  He used to teach at her high school.

Doesn’t matter the party elected.  What I am happy about is that we had one of the highest voter turnout rates ever.  YES!!!!!!!!  Our youth are beginning to believe in the American Dream and civic responsibility.  I’m not as worried about our future anymore.  The apathy may be finally on its way out.

    HUGS!!!

  • I loved the poem!

    How bout them Dems?

Hope all is well, still pretty busy round here.

    Peace and Love:)

  • Lovely poem.

    Nice post today…

I’m still a bit freaked out about tomorrow, but Scotty assured me he would be my rock….or as he said in his words “I’ll be a wall you can lean on, like the wall that should keep the mexicans out.” lol…he’s such a dork.

  • The poem at the beginning is so appropriate.

I always respected Ed Bradley.  He seemed to have a good grasp of reality in many tense situations.

  • Humor is the sunshine of the mind…how very true! love that.
I also love your poem (as always) you are a wonderful writer.

  • Love the poem.   I always admired Ed Bradley.

  • Election Day! :sunny: Yummm!  First we go to vote at the city hall and then, we go next door to the city grange and eat fermented bean soup and cornbread and homemade apple butter on cinnamon toast!!:goodjob: It all gets washed down with dutch Valley apple cider!! :coolman:

(Suse me while I  pat an overfull tummy!!):whocares::spinning:

  • Love your poem. Beautiful. I also love your background. Have a great night. Hugs and Smiles  Gypsy

  • :) I must apollogize:(

The first four stanzas of your poem had me spell bound:lookaround:

    then you lost me:

I guess I am actually quite shallow, when it comes to the grand issues of politics:fun:

:goodjob: But you are truely gifted with the ability:coolman:

  • sorry I haven’t been around much……….this week has been crazy…………….love to you.

  • Wonderful words! RYC: no, but I will ask about it:fun:

  • Stopping to say Hi and wish you a great day tomorrow. Dark Crow

  • I totally agree with you about the election. Now it’s going to be interesting to see if Bush truly will play nice or if he’s going to do a Cheney and play rough. We have by no means won the war on the Constitution, but we’ve won an important battle.

    Lynn

  • fantastic poem

ryc: in the crib?! gave me chills.

  • Many are glad here that the Election went so well :goodjob:

  • Oh~how I love The Smokey Robinson songs~!!! Your poetry is exquisite talent~!!! I positively love the Keith Ellis, Bootstaps quote…Awesome~.:):sunny::):heartbeat:

Thx. immensely for stopping by…it is always delightful to read your lovely words~!!! Wishing you a delightful dancing Friday…!!! (((Hugs~!!!)))~:heartbeat:

  • Oh~& humor does make everything so much easier…I love what you wrote about humor~!!!

    Here’s to sunshine & laughter…!!!:):sunny::)

  • Ironically, gas prices jumped 5-to-9 cents the day after election day.
    Anyone else notice that one?

  • Wonderful poem! There is always hope for the future but my faith in the political process is still a challenge no matter who’s in power. It’s Veterans Day! Have a good day!

  • I sure hope we finish what we started in Iraq even though the democrats have taken over. Other wise we will look weak to the rest of the world and in my opinion it could very well be our demise – especially with how many countries over there wanted to see our total annihilation?

  • Thanks for the political thoughts and also your poem.  Hopefully with the Democrats, we can become a global partner rather than a monolith.  I noticed the reference to Richard Dawkins.  I also noted a comment to you about his not believing in miracles.  He believes in miracles of cobwebs, sunsets, love, etc.  He just doesn’t believe that they are the result of some supernatural, mystic god with a name like Zeus, or Jehovah.  He actually has a lot of good things to say about life – natural life as opposed to supernatural life.  That actually creates more awe in a person than belief in a god of promises – whether they be promises of 77 virgins, or promises of “eternal life” after death, or promises of eternal hellfire.  Reality trumps supernatural promises every time.

  • I think you are a really wonderful person for recognizing when somebody(me)says something to (you)! :spinning: Thanks alot!
    - a friend

(may your day be as bright as the sun :sunny: )
